The Tom Landry Classic held its tenth annual competition on August 29, 2009, at the Southern Methodist University’s Gerald J. Ford stadium. The Tom Landry Classic was started with respects to Tom Landry, the acclaimed, legendary coach of the Dallas Cowboys from 1960-1988. The event is one of the largest competitions in high school football in the country, and receives more than 22,500 people in attendance. In addition, the event offers a scholarship to the winning team’s event participants, including football players, student mangers, student trainers, band members, cheerleaders and field performers.

Dr. William Boothe and his team at Boothe Eye Care and Laser Center are one of the few corporate sponsors of the event, contributing to the event’s prized scholarship. Dr. William Boothe feels strongly about being involved in the Tom Landry Scholarship, a donation to students who demonstrate excellence in leadership, integrity, academics and community service.

In 2009, Dr. Boothe and the Boothe Eye Care team, along with other corporate sponsors, awarded the Tom Landry Classic Scholarship to Emily Giffin, Will Johnson and Scott Lopano of the Southlake Carroll Dragons.

William Boothe, MD, has been practicing refractive surgery since 1987, giving him more than two decades of experience in serving patients’ eye care needs. Following medical school, he completed an internal medicine internship at Presbyterian Hospital, an ophthalmology residency at Texas Tech University School of Ophthalmology and a cornea fellowship at Jules Stein Eye Institute, where he specialized in refractive surgery. His advanced education combined with his extensive experience makes him a leading LASIK surgeon throughout Texas.
